Within a few decades , we can expect the planet do become more crowded, resources more precious , and innovative urban planners increasingly important. The global population will likely increase and more than half will live in cities. So there are a lot of questions being raised about our future. What will cities look like ? Will we have the resources to power and provide cmofortness in our residents? Will global urbanization harmonize or will head us on collision ? No-one really knows what the future holds, but the reality now is that our urban spaces are overcrowded and polluted. To start designing smarter urban environments, both new cities needed to sustain an ever-growing population on the ones that we have lived in for centuries. We also can say that people are looking more and more forward to live in the big cities , and that is a a problem. A problem , because traffic jams are getting worse, queues longer and transport networks more prone to delays, power outages more common.Urban planning is the way to make this phenomena decrease its damages. We can not say if it can solve it because population is increasing day by day.Today, cities around the world are making their streets friendlier to bikes and pedestrians by passing laws restricting car travel.Building and expanding the cities provides places for more people but in the other hand this expansion is bad for the environment.Everyday urban planners try to develop and think of many ways to provide more and more people to live in a comfortable way without destroying the environment .Energy prices increase constantly due to the steadily growing needs of mankind. The most developed countries already do that. And not only those that do not have their own sources of energy and have to constantly buy resources from other countries, but also those who think about the future and understand that resources are not unlimited and saving at least some of them today will give the opportunity to exist in the future. The need of fuel resources increases not only every day, but even every second. Lack of energy and the constant restriction of fuel resources lead to an inevitable transition in the near future to alternative energy sources. By using urban planning there is hope. If transportation is provided more and more , if more bicycle lanes will be build and also if more hydropower plants will be build near the big cities , the problem with this resources would be decreased. And that is thanks to urban planning.Sustainable urbanization is key to successful development. If well managed, cities offer important opportunities for economic development and for expanding access to basic services, including health care and education, for large numbers of people. Providing public transportation, as well as housing, electricity, water and sanitation for a densely settled urban population is typically cheaper and less environmentally damaging than providing a similar level of services to a dispersed rural population. In conclusion , the process of urbanization historically has been associated with other important economic and social transformations, which have brought greater geographic mobility, lower fertility, longer life expectancy and population ageing.Nevertheless, rapid and unplanned urban growth threatens sustainable development when the necessary infrastructure is not developed or when policies are not implemented to ensure that the benefits of city life are equitably shared.
