Intro: Piri Reis Map, Is It Genuine?Found on gazelle skin the unsolved mystery of the map of Piri Reis remains a mystery on whether or not Antarctica used to be ice-free. Gustav Adolf Deissmann, A German Protestant theologian, Found the map on gazelle skin while cataloging in Istanbul in 1929, He found it when looking through some disregarded material, He used this to graph the Piri Reis map. I believe That The Piri Reis map is genuine due to a passed geniality test, corrects made to modern day maps, and Checking ancient maps to test its quality. Point One: The Piri Reis Map is a genuine Map. During the 1950’s The map passed a test to certify if it was genuine. In 1953 A Turkish Naval officer shipped the map down to the US Navy Hydroglyphics Bureau. A man named M.I. Walters, the Chief Engineer of the Bureau called for help Arlington H. Mallery, an authority on ancient maps. Walter and Mallery had Worked together previously. After a long time, Mallery Found what method was used to project this map. Mallery made a grid and put the map on a globe to test its accuracy. It was completely accurate. With great pride in their work, Walter reported His and Mallery’s Finding and was congratulated on their breakthrough on the Piri Reis maps debate on whether or not it was genuine. Point Two: The Piri Reis Map is a genuine map. Shortly after discovering the amazing accuracy of the Piri Reis map, Mallery, when comparing it to other maps than just the globe, found that the Piri Reis map was so accurate it was more accurate than the maps that Mallery was comparing the Piri Reis map to. So after showing Walters his findings, Walters and Mallery Then were able to make corrections to modern day maps, Making them more accurate than they have ever been. this was a major breakthrough because this really further proves that the Piri Reis map was and still is incredibly accurate. Again Mallery and Walter were congratulated for the great progress on the Maps history and accuracy.Point Three: Walters and Mallery, Still very interested in the accuracy of the map, decided to test it further by comparing it to maps from hundreds of years ago. The process was a hard process because lots of old maps have ink that has rubbed off or smudged, or they can just be really dirty but it’s hard to clean because of how fragile they are. After finally cleaning the ancient maps they were able to compare the Piri Reis map. And Again they found that the maps matched the ancient maps. Mallery, thinking that the grid he made might be off a little so he made another and tried again, And the same results, The map was again completely accurate. They were completely amazed them And proved that the map was Accurate. Counterclaim: Observers have stated that geological evidence shows that the last time Antarctica was ice-free was 4000B.C Therefore the Piri Reis map could not be genuine because the map was drawn in 1513, 5,513 years after Antarctica was covered in ice.Rebuttal: It is not possible to pinpoint the earliest date that such a task could have been accomplished, but it seems that the Queen Maud Land littoral may have remained in a stable, unglaciated condition for at least 9000 years before the spreading ice-cap swallowed it entirely. This means that during these 9,000 years, some human must have found and charted this land that was later used by Piri Reis to construct this map. This proves that the Piri Reis map has to be genuine because it is very, very, very, unlikely that someone could have made a map that accurate by guessing Conclusion: The Piri Reis map is genuine because of passed tests, corrections to modern day maps, and comparison to ancient maps such as queen maud’s land maps. So, in conclusion, the evidence Proves that the Piri Reis map is genuine. Therefore Antarctica was at one point ice-free But not only does it prove that This map is evidence of a very advanced prehistoric Civilization using some sort of Ariel surveying to graph on a map, Ice free Antarctica/Queen Muad’s Land.
