The Hiring Manager
British American Tobacco (Nigeria) Limited
2 Olumegbon Road, Off Alfred Rewane Road
FOR GLOBAL GRADUATE PROGRAMME (LEGAL, EXTERNAL AFFAIRS) AT BRITISH AMERICAN
The above subject matter
As an enthusiastic and
ambitious lawyer who was recently called to the Nigerian bar, I am excited to
apply for the Global Graduate Programme (Legal, External Affairs) at British
American Tobacco (the “Company”). I am particularly interested in the Company
for its unparalleled success as one of the leading fast-moving consumer goods
(FMCG) companies in the world.
I am an LL.B. degree holder
with Second Class Honors, Upper Division
and I am licensed to practice as a legal practitioner in Nigeria. While in the
university, I played an active role in the African Students for Liberty as Vice-president
of the organisation. My team executed projects like birthing the organization,
drafting proposals to raise funds for our event, writing articles to promote
the organization such that 60 persons were registered members within a week. And
through these activities, I was able to develop and showcase good leadership
ship skills and appreciate the importance of team spirit.
In addition to my academic
qualifications, I have acquired important practical experience to develop my
drafting and analytical skills as a lawyer. During the period of my internship
at the Advisory unit of the Ministry of Justice in Lagos State, I was part of a
team that routinely reviewed agreements relating to Public Procurement
transactions. Related to this was exposure to compliance and regulatory issues
which were critical to successful completion of the public procurement deals. I
strongly believe that this experience provides the requisite foundation to take
on the tasks and duties associated with the graduate programme at the Company. A
position with the Company in its graduate programme will
provide a platform for me to deploy problem solving and decision-making skills
gained over the years. It will also be an opportunity to test my business development
ability and market focus at the graduate level using the international platform
that the Company provides. The opportunity provided by the Company
for relationships to exist where I can work and importantly learn from an
experienced professional is priceless. This alone is an incentive to join the
team. In addition to this, the company boasts of its commitment to helping
talented and motivated employees to achieve their full potential such that
working in the fast-paced environment helps stretch me to my limits and the
possibility of progressing from a graduate to a manager in 12 months becomes a
reality. The above and more are reasons I am applying to British American
Tobacco’s Global Graduate Recruitment Programme 2018.
I believe that I possess the qualities to get acquainted with the culture and
technical requirements of the Company in good time.
would welcome the opportunity to discuss my application with you and look
forward to hearing from you.
you very much for your consideration. Enclosed, please find a copy of my resume.
I look forward to hearing from you.
